To correctly analyze the matrix of Materialistic Superficiality we must first disect the literary definitions of the words. Superficial; lack of depth of knowledge or thought or feeling. Materialism; a desire for wealth and material possessions with little interest in ethical or spiritual matters. Corporate industry has taken the human desire of individuality, identity, and personal expression and has made it into an industrial commodity. The beauty cosmetic market and fashion industry are prime examples of this. The beauty industry is the foundation to for the titan that is fashion. The beauty industry capitalizes on the insecurities of women telling them they must be sexy and visually pleasing to men at all times. And primarity to maintain an image where a woman is classy and at the same time a whore willing to please. The contradictory ideal for a woman is coupled with the pressure to look young at all stages of life. Through years or submissiveness and a world culture that accepts women as objects, they began to internalize the unrealistic standards of beauty and buying the wrinkle serums, fake tits, artificial lips, and having the fat sucked out of their child bearing hips. With this now internalized vision of beauty women have been accepting their social niche by participating in the practice that is fashion.
What is fashion? Some say it is expression of one's self through clothing. I say thats a fucking lie perpetuated by massive conglomerates who are trying to sell shit. The same clothes made by the children who we turn the TV and see starving. Do not be confused. Fashion is business. the word is defined as; the latest and most admired style in clothes and cosmetics and behavior. If it is the most admired style it is not orginal. Self expression is a spec of the past.
So now what do we have. People with money who decide what is beautiful, then they force it in our minds through images in the media and surrounding us by it in stores. What are our choices? For a person incapable of deciphering what they really like and what they are told to like, they more often than not fall victim to the fashion guestapo. Immersing themselves in the scraps of materials with microscopic labels at an attempt to make themselves feel whole.

So these businesses, are the ones I hold responsible for suicide among young girls who are not satisfied with their body image because cosmo says that they weigh too much. I blame them for making girls think that men are more imporant than a future. I blame them for trapping women in men in the gender roles strictly in appearance. Materialistic Superficiality is no longer a term, it is a way of life that we inherit through the culture we are born in. Is it possible to destroy it.

well as someone who is entering the fashion industry and writes a fashion blog, I can agree on some of your points as far as making "certain" women feel less than others, but this is not always true, take for example the Go International collections at Target that are geared toward woman of lower income brackets at heavily discounted prices made out of the same material that a DVF dress would be made out for instance.Fashion was NEVER created to hurt individuals but to uplift and to inspire people from ALL walks of life, to be confident feel sexy and to enjoy life. The main reason why so many are attracted to this industry is because some enjoy expressing themselves through style. Most are conscious that designer clothes are more expensive than mass produced clothes sold at a local mall, for many reasons, one, the time and energy put into the making of the clothes, and the materials used. People in high fashion believe in the quality of a garment that will last and only add to your beauty both inside and out. In the beginning fashions sole purpose was to celebrate women and the woman figure, and also men. If you're going to put clothes on your back why not put on the best? I see nothing wrong with striving for excellence and appreciating art. Fashion is just as similiar as music and dance and any other creative field. It's sole purpose is to entertain and put a smile on someone's face. Only when fashion is misconstrewed and taken out of context can it be viewed in a more cynical light. Just because you don't understand or don't appreciate something you no next to little about doesn't mean that it's purpose is to damage the ego of another human being. If this was true then 80's editor-in-cheif of Vogue Diana Vreeland would of never let a then basically homeless Andre Leon Talley, an aspiring fashion editor under her wing, and cared for him as if he were her own son. Would the Council For Fashion Desginers give out annual $250,000 award to new up and coming designers with a dream and no funds, if fashion's purpose is to demean and hurt others? People who work in the fashion industry are brought together by their love of beautifully crafted garments. They are a family, like any other industry. The sooner you realize that the sooner you can stop criticizing millions of hard working peoples professions.
I mean, come on now. They value exterior over interior, waste how many resuorces, and put how many people overseas into hard labor,
just so that some immoral rich or middle class wench of a woman who has a cheating husband and ungrateful brat children can swipe her Amex, and buy those garments which she'll wear for a season, and then toss it out?
And the profits go to these innovators and designers whos personality you don't really know, but you can rest assured they don't really care about you, they're just trying to get their visions out there and make themselves rich.
MEANWHILE...all of these different designers, etc, make for a very superficial country, where you're judged by what you wear, and what you wear shows how much money you have, and people equate money with value of a human being.
So therefore,
how is any of this NOT evil?
I mean on one side you an argue that fasihon is fine, fun, and great, but on the other hand, ..it has its evils too.
ok. no industry is perfect obviously, but the whole housewife thing is getting old, fashion is not just worn by housewives and socialites, some of those women are career woman, judges, lawyers, hedge fund managers, etc.
Secondly, woman who have style don't follow trends, they follow their instincts and buy what feels right to them.
Thirdly, if any industry is made to make the average person feel bad about themselves it's 90% of the rap industry which is an industry that you obviously support with your default song. Because nothings better than talking about woman as whores, encouraging people to sell drugs, and promote violence amongst an all ready oppressed people. But you think you're doing something new and that you're for the PEOPLE when really you're just enforcing the negative stereotypes of our race, by playing that music.
